Daily Blotter for May 12th 2026
- 11:47 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. MFR transported person to local hospital experiencing medical emergency after our contact with them.
- 6:36 pm, Other, Local Hospital. Contacted person for a potential disturbance/preserve the peace with another individual regarding property that another person was trying to obtain. UWPD was able to facilitate exchange of property without further issues.
- 8:32 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Local Hospital. MFR transported patient to local hospital, no need for police assistance.
- 9:45 pm, Check Person, Lot 46. Cited person for camping in lot 46, numerous recent contacts for same reason.
- 12:28 am, Warrant Served, N. Bassett & W. Dayton Streets. Traffic Stop – Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail driver for Dane County Warrant and OWI 1st, PAC 1st, Non-registration of auto, OWL and possession of THC. Originally stopped for expired registration. Vehicle released to relative.

- 1:55 pm, Emergency Detention, Location Redacted. Contacted person experiencing mental health crisis.
- 2:28 pm, Found Property, Residence Hall. No information provided at time of briefing release.
- 5:07 pm, Warrant Served, Local Hospital. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail without incident person for active warrant out of Rock County for Disorderly conduct after contacting them during a welfare check when a passerby called UWPD advising they could hear them yelling outside and wasn’t sure if the person needed help.
- 1:30 am, Other, W. Johnson & N. Broom Streets. Traffic Stop – Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for Felony bail jumping and possession of Drug paraphernalia after being stopped for numerous improper turns. Verbally warned for improper turns and possession of THC, open felony case in Winnebago County.

- 1:42 am, Check Person, Location Redacted. ***UPDATE*** From 05/08/2026 Briefing Sheet – MFR transported person to local hospital due to intoxication from alcohol.
- 3:16 pm, Mental Health Welfare Check, Location Redacted. Contacted person who reported from another person that they were concerned for their welfare for someone experiencing a mental health crisis.
- 4:47 pm, Other, E. Gilman Street. LRAS Rescue - Tower identified a person who was ejected from their jet ski in wavy conditions sand unable to swim to jet ski, Boat 20 recovered them and the jet ski. Returned person and jet skit to Warner Park Boat Launch, person denied any request for EMS.
- 6:10 pm, Theft/Larceny, Residence Hall. Contacted person who reported their "Hufflepuff" banner was stolen from the hallway in B tower.
- 6:14 pm, Other, Memorial Union. Obstructing - Contacted person after they parked and left their car in a prohibited area off roadway on Memorial Union property and it was towed by Schmidt’s Towing. Person cited for UWS failure to obey sign.
- 11:01 pm, Bail Jumping, Local Hospital. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect for Misdemeanor Bail jumping that has conditions defendant shall not be at any this particular Hospital or Clinic except only as necessary for a legitimate medical emergency and they were denying medical treatment after being checked into the hospital.
- 12:27 am, Other, N. Randall Ave & Engineering Drive. Contacted persons for open intoxicants, one uncooperative/lied and was cited for municipal open intoxicant and verbally warned for obstructing. Others verbally warned for open intoxicants.
- 4:24 am, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Local Hospital. Incident ongoing at time of briefing release.

- 8:12 am, Theft/Larceny, Van Vleck. Contacted person who reported leaving their airpods in Van Vleck they were then missing when they checked the location the next day. Airpods found and returned to owner.
- 11:02 am, Motor Vehicle Accident, Lot 7. Contacted Transportation Services after person backed their vehicle into the Lot 7 gate arm. Attempted to make phone contact with RO, left voicemail to return my call.
- 12:47 pm, Emergency Detention, Location Redacted. Contacted person experiencing mental health crisis.
- 2:26 pm, Theft/Larceny, Residence Hall. Contacted person regarding two items stolen from their residence hall dorm room.
- 7:59 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Location Redacted. Assisted outside agency with mutual aid request to assist on search warrant to locate firearms.
- 5:05 am, Warrant Served, Helen C. White. Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail suspect at the request of WI DOC for a Probation Violation Felony Warrant, personal property held at UWPD for safe keeping.

- 9:28 am, Lost Property, UWPD. Contacted person who lost their passport.
- 10:34 pm, Theft/Larceny, Memorial Union. Contacted person regarding their iPad that was stolen from Peets Coffee when it was left unattended and gone when they returned. Follow-up conducted and ipad was found with owner later that day.
- 12:22 am, Underage Alcohol Violation, Location Redacted. MFR transported person to local hospital due to incapacitation from alcohol, cited for UAL 1st.
- 12:57 am, Assault, Langdon Street. Assisted outside agency with locating and arresting/citing subject for Municipal DC after they shoved another person into the street and dragged them by their feet. No additional assistance requested by outside agency.

- 11:40 am, Fraud, SWAP. Contacted person regarding fraudulent activity on their department credit card. Information also provided from Iowa State University Police Department regarding cases they are working on as well.
- 1:57 pm, Harassment, Location Redacted. Contacted person regarding harassment from former partner, investigation ongoing.
- 2:41 pm, Mental Health Welfare Check, Location Redacted. Contacted persons expressing concern regarding another person they felt was experiencing mental health crisis. Person agreed to follow up with other parties.
- 6:01 pm, Damage to Property, Aldo Leopold Hall. Attempted to contact person after they reported they accidentally struck the SE exterior facade of building while reversing a delivery box truck. Attempted contact person ongoing at this time.
- 12:41 am, Other, Lot 46. Contacted persons for depositing human waste on the southeast pedestrian entrance of Lot 46.
Daily Blotter for May 6th 2026
- 6:42 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, W. Johnson & N. Brooks Streets. ***UPDATE*** from previous day’s briefing sheet – Stopped out at the intersection of N. Brooks St. and W. Johnson St. for a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles. One vehicle ran multiple red lights before rear ending one vehicle and then crashing into a pole, assisted outside agency with scene stabilization and report.
- 9:37 pm, Graffiti, Lot 6. ***UPDATE*** from previous day’s briefing sheet – Transportation Services reported graffiti in southeast stairwell.
- 7:08 am, Found Property, HSLC. Ebling library staff turned over a driver’s license, unable to contact subject, placed into property for safekeeping.
- 9:10 am, Found Property, Memorial Library. Located wallet inside College Library on the 3rd floor west side and able to return wallet to owner.
- 9:42 am, Motor Vehicle Accident, Engineering Drive. Contacted person being struck by the construction crane at the engineering build site, as it was driving past on Engineering Dr.
- 10:28 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. MFR transported patient to local hospital, no police assistance needed.
- 11:21 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. MFR transported patient to local hospital, no police assistance needed.
- 12:03 pm, Information, Residence Hall. Contacted person regarding staff member taking items from SWAP bin which is strictly for IT equipment/personnel to put in and take out from said bin, informational report taken, no police action at this time due to no crime committed.
- 3:25 am, Fire, University Houses. Arrived on scene to an active dumpster fire. Utilized squad fire extinguisher until MFR engine arrived on scene, putting out the rest of the fire. Contacted callers no foul play observed. Nothing inside the dumpster to indicate foul play. Waste and Recycling notified for disposal of old dumpster.

- 11:20 am, Information, Location Redacted. Contacted person who reported injury but was refusing MFR treatment, informational purposes only.
- 11:46 am, Check Person, Location Redacted. Contacted/de-escalated patient during mental health crisis.
- 1:23 pm, Theft/Larceny, Engineering Research Building. Contacted person who advised that for the last couple of weeks, small items of garbage have been added to their dumpster at Engineering Research Building, large items over the weekend were added, cameras to be reviewed. Investigation ongoing at this time.
- 1:25 pm, Graffiti, Engineering Dr. & Randall Ave. Located graffiti tag written in black marker and a scribble mark in green marker.
- 3:13 pm, Found Property, W. Mifflin Street. Backpack turned in after it was found by passerby on Mifflin St.
- 3:16 pm, Disorderly Conduct, Far West Fields. Cited person for UW Code DC after pushing another person off their bike after verbal altercation.
- 8:54 pm, Found Property, Crew House. Found blue iPhone turned into UWPD dispatch. Unable to contact any possible owner.
- 11:10 pm, Follow-up, Park Street. Traffic Stop – Stopped Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail motorcycle drivers for Fleeing/Eluding stemming from previous cases. Both motorcycles towed/sent to Schmidt’s Auto. Investigation ongoing.
- 3:17 am, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. Contacted person requesting assistance but refused MFR transport.

- 5:52 pm, Mental Health Welfare Check, Location Redacted. Contacted by local hospital regarding patient experiencing mental health crisis.
- 8:47 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Local Hospital. Assisted outside agency with warrant blood draw for patient who was transported to local hospital.
- 11:44 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, Regent Street. Assisted outside agency regarding a person at the Regent St McDonalds seen loading a firearm, conceal it, then leave, located person nearby, detained and was later arrested by outside agency.

- 2:43 pm, Assist Law Enforcement Agency, University Ave. & N. Lake Street. Assisted outside agency after weapons call of a motorcyclist displaying a handgun at drivers while heading outbound University Ave. at Lake St, located & stopped motorcyclist, recovered weapon, outside agency handling case & citations.
- 5:16 pm, Found Property, UWPD. Attempted contact at Veterans Transitional Housing, contacted an individual who stated residents don't stay there on the weekends, left business card for person to obtain personal belongings at UWPD this week.
- 8:51 pm, Information, Campus concert facility. Contacted person regarding concerns about a concert patron.
- 10:56 pm, Medical/Alcohol/Detox Conveyance, Location Redacted. MFR transported patient in PC to local hospital after being found lying on the ground incapacitated due to alcohol.
- 11:01 pm, Damage to Property, Near Gordon Dining Hall. Located damage to the glass on one of the bus stops on Lake St. between W. Johnson St. and Dayton St. glass looks to be shattered by an object thrown at the window.
- 12:25 am, Information, Residence Hall. Contacted person after they were reported to be causing a disturbance and breaking things in their dorm room, transported to local hospital for injuries.
- 12:34 am, Operating While Intoxicated, Regent Street. Traffic Stop - Contacted/Cited/Arrested/Transported/Released to Dane County Jail driver for OWI 3rd, Lane deviation, fail to install IID, criminal OAR, verbally warned for speed.
